spring stories

it's a funny thing about mothers and fathers..
they become so blinded by adoration
they manage to convince themselves
their child has qualities of genius."
-Roald Dahl

adoration aside, ryker is a genius!
(at least we think so)
he is so smart and amazes us every day.

forget crawling or scooting,
ryker is cruising around on his two feet.
he pulls himself up and then walks
as far as he can, using walls and dressers
to get himself around the house.
it's very impressive.

he is imitating our sounds and
says "ker ker" when we say "ryker"

when we tell him "no,"
(like after he opens kitchen drawers
or throws the dogs' food)
he puts his lips together like an "o"

and that is just one of his classic faces.
he still squints his eyes while
giving us a huge "cheese" smile.

he knows where the "on" button
is for all his toys
(as well as the carbon monoxide monitor -
oh, our poor ears!)

ryker makes everything so wonderful.
i can forget a bad day at work
after spending just a few minutes with him.

graham and i loved spending every moment
playing and laughing together this weekend.
we watched a lot of soccer, starting with my brothers' game

i love my brother's throw-ins.
he can place the ball in front of the goal
so it is easy for people to score.
everyone is so surprised the first time
they see his throw-in.

we then watched graham's soccer game

where ryker tried to eat as many cheetos as he could!

then ryker and nic played their own game of soccer

we finished the evening with ellie and ryker playing with bubbles

what a perfect weekend!

being ryker's mom

here's to a kid
who makes being a mother
simply the most
rewarding
and
beautiful
thing
i have ever known.

shave and a haircut...

this photo makes me laugh!
i cut ryker's hair a few weeks ago
but his curls were out of control again
so we decided it was time for a professional haircut.
he did great and looks like a little man.
